Malaysian authorities have added the Netherlands and Hong Kong to its ongoing investigation of a data breach that impacted 46 million mobile phone users, The Straits Times reports. National Chief of Police Tan Sri Mohd Fuzi Harun said emails used to spread the data had IP addresses tracked to Oman, The Netherlands and Hong Kong, adding, “We are trying to identify the owner of these accounts and this represents our current challenge in conducting investigations.” It is not clear if those responsible for the breach are part of a syndicate or acted alone. Police are working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and have no plans to involve outside assistance at the moment.
