Wired reports on an update Ghostery has released to bolster its ad-blocking capabilities. Ghostery 8 includes anti-tracking technology powered by artificial intelligence. The browser extension uses AI to both identify trackers and see whether the trackers are gathering personally identifiable information. When Ghostery detects a tracker targeting sensitive data, it will supersede the data points by sending random information before it reaches a third party. The upgrade also makes Ghostery easier to use, as its “Smart Mode� lets the extension adjust tracker settings if an individual does not want to manually whitelist the 2,600 trackers Ghostery has in its library.
