Open-Xchange has announced its latest round of funding, led by Iris Capital, which brought in $25 million, VentureBeat reports. The new funding will be put toward expanding the company’s head count and developing its products and services. Open-Xchange, which makes technology utilized by companies to power email services, recently created a consumer alternative, called OX.io, to allows users to either opt in to a broad advertising category for a free email account or pay to get an ad-free version with added PGP encryption. Curt Gunsenheimer, a senior partner at Iris Capital, said, “Open-Xchange is a key player in the open source ecosystem and a true European business pride,” adding, “In fighting for openness, they make the digital landscape secure and transparent for all.”
